Watched Courageous with my Dad alone this evening. Truly, it's a God-orchestrated evening and miracle to witness this Father & Son film with my earthly father. Though it was rather awkward as I seldom watch a movie or walk to CWP alone with him, I know God spoke to him throughout the evening (and plus, he wiped his eyes at the end of the film). "O LORD, don't come back so quickly. Give me that 5 more minutes to bring the message of salvation into my family."

Completed Kayaking Star 2 Course with my BBHQ buddies (Christopher, Lim Pin, Loisa) today after 2 lessons and one 8km expeditions from Sembawang Water Venture to Seletar Island back and forth. Despite the tiredness and sunburns, it was worthwhile to invest my two weekends in learning new stuff and to have fellowship with these AWEsome bunch.

Started my Relief Teaching Attachment with Christ Church Secondary School recently. Great exposure to what being a MOE teacher's like. Had the opportunity to see how the other teachers work in the staffroom a.k.a behind the scenes. I must concede that teachers are possibly the most stressful creatures in this Solar System.

I relieved Class 3E2 and 1E3 for the past few days. For the the latter, I walked into the class and explained to them that their Math Tutor met an accident in the morning. And guess what, they whole class lifted their hands into the air and exclaimed, "YEAH!" I was like, "...." And oh boy, our kids these days are quite well-informed, intelligent and confident speakers (but aggressive). I received questions like, "Aiyo, why u so stupid? Why you go Innova and not ACJC? Do you have a girlfriend? Is her name A****? Can we play Taboo instead of Pictionary, please?"

Pray that I may learn much in the next 3 months.

Blessed New Year 2012 to God's people and may the LORD continue to pour out His spirit and fill the hearts of men this new season. Just got back from China on Wednesday night after 15 days of extended time with my family. The best moment was when I got to celebrate CHRISTmas service with my Dad in a small church in Zhangzhou (and he was the one who initiated it!). It's amazing how God orchestrated everything during this trip. I'm still praying for my Dad's salvation that he may come to know Jesus as His own LORD and Saviour one day.

After I got back, I have heard that countless things have been happening to my friends in LIFE/Innova, brothers in BB and church mates. I pray that as we start the new year, may we learn to trust and obey God more this year and lean on His strength as we face each new storm that knocks on our door.

Today, I had Kayaking Star 2 Course with Ms.Loisa, Lim Pin, Christopher and other BB Boys from 33rd Company. For Star 2, we are required to use the Dancer instead of the Bandit Kayak, which has a really small cockpit (making it extremely difficult to enter the Kayak). The first hour I got into my Kayak, I already told myself, "I want to go home now." Coach Eugene made us do tons of Capsizing-prone exercises and as a result, we kept capsizing like nobody's business. The Sembawang seawater was ultra turbulent and really scary (I never knew I would be so afraid of the sea).

But thank God we managed to pray for the weather and commit the day to the LORD together before we sank. It really makes a difference when we put our faith in God when we feel so insecure and fearful. At the end of the day, I became more confident with the capsizing and do look forward to the Expedition and Lesson II next weekend : )

Cycled with Darryl Sw yesterday for a total of 70km to places like Upper Thomson,

Orchard Road BBHQ, Singapore Flyer, Shenton Way, Marina Barrage and Bugis Street.
Was an incredible experience though it was quite scary to cycle on the road along all the cars. And I learnt one thing - Never ever cycle in the rain. Bought a new bike with Chuen last Saturday. Let me formally introduce my new wife - Cannondale Trail 6.0.
Thank God for Sw as he taught me about the traffic, route and safety guidelines that advocated my survival, haha. This young gentlemen, whom I have known and trusted for many years, is unbelievably gifted by God. Sw teaches me how to play, fix and tune my guitar countless of time and advises me on numerous issues related to bicycles. Great and well-respected brother in Christ. Forgive me, brother, if I ask you for help too much.

People has been asking me, "Do I aim to become an Officer when I serve my National Service?" Sometimes I get really excited when I ponder about the lessons that I would learn in OCS, the women that I would invite for social night and how others would view me if I were to become an Officer. But thankfully, God has been impressing upon my heart that going to army is much more than all these.

I always hear people saying (and I must admit that I do entertain some of these negative connotations at times) that NS is boring, it makes one a scatterbrain, "training si bei jia lat", "Sergeant jin sui leh", "the pay so low sia", "damn sian lor," "cant play Dota inside" etc. How immature can guys get? These information may be true but I pray that God will allow me to use the 2 years wisely and for His glory. I am grateful that God has taught me that a huge element of NS is really about protecting the women, the young and the old in our nation. Eventually, we will be learning how to kill an enemy. All the more I pray that many more young men will take their journey in NS seriously (because it is not DOTA).

That's why now I am no longer concerned about whether I would become an Officer, a Commando (which I really really wanted but I believe God has a good reason to close that door for me and I don't doubt His decision), a Sergeant, a Ranger, a Best Recruit or whatsoever. I simply pray that God will give me the maturity to go in with an open mind and be serious about being equipped with the knowledge and skills to protect the people I love.

Recently, God has been teaching me not to judge other Christians who may be weaker in faith and struggle to walk with God daily. I used to judge Ram--y privately as a hypocrite who smokes. That explains the bitterness in him and his struggle in walking close with God.

Yesterday was GOOD Friday. Uncle Oliver always tells us that it is a day good for us, but bad for Jesus. It's rather sad how the world assumes that the Son of God dies on the cross so that everyone can have a public holiday. From the bottom of my heart, I know that this God I worship is living and true.

I went for the Navigator's Funeral Party without knowing that it would end at 8pm. Sigh, i went for the event with a heavy heart. So much tutorials and revisions that are many weeks overdue. But I know that I need to be there with my BB Boys to spend time with them. By God's grace, Chris spoke to me and gave me Colossians 3:23. It's silly how I doubt God about my A levels. He who sent Jesus to die on the cross to redeem me has a plan for me (Jeremiah 29:11)!

Went for Coach William's Coaching Concept Workout this morning and finished 10 x 1km intervals (with 1 min rest). My average timing was 00:00:04:52.

For the past 2 weeks, he has gone all out to help me in my PA application. He spoked to Mrs.Yeo, prayed, dug up my old photos, wrote the referee's report for me, sacrificed his sleep & spent time talking to me. He didn't get the chance to say his very last goodbye to his mom because of me. At 2.55pm on Monday, Uncle Oliver was at ZapIt! to print the reports with me. At around 3.13pm, he left Woodlands platform and boarded the MRT to AMK. At 3.45pm, his mom 'went home.' According to my calculations, Uncle Oliver did not managed to see her mom leave on time. He missed that chance only by a few minutes. Why? BECAUSE he was printing the report with me...

That's how far my mentor would go for me. To sacrifice that chance
to say goodbye just to help me apply for some silly treasure...

Paul tells us clearly that our lives are meant for the glory of Christ who was, and is, and is to come! To die is gain for we're going HOME! But notice he didn't say "dying" is gain. Haha, come to think of it, it is quite silly for Christians to get themselves involved in so many activities and end up struggling with their own Quiet Time and compromising their family.

Went running and swimming with Isaac, Ezra, C.F, Benny and the other AQ bunch this morning. Really thank God for this great bunch of younger brothers. God's word mentions many times that we have to take up the cross, die to ourselves and crucify our sinful nature... God always talk about how we must 'die' before we can truly follow him (if you read the bible properly).

To follow God, our sinful nature must FIRST die!

Primers' Challenge ended on 29 Dec :)

Was amazing how God challenged me in different ways during the trip. AbseilingThe white water rafting was really fun. But I realized I've difficulties breathing in caves : (
Initially, we ventured into Temperung Wet Cave for our first 2hr tour but I gave up halfway... I was scared not of the dark, but of losing my sight and heart beat. Thank God, though I doubted but continued to pray, I managed to finish the 2nd Cave Tour... I spoke to God every single second I was in there. God says, "Do not fear," 365 different times in the bible. When He says it so many times, He must be serious!

Followed by Year-End Evaluation Chalet with my brothers at Navigators HQ. Thank God that Aaron was able to make it : ) BBQ, running at East Coast, napping, Mary, Guitar and other stuff.

Yesterday, ended off 2010 with movie and pizza (I paid for everything! Pout) with Yu Jie and Darryl Sw! Watched Stardust and we enjoyed ourselves very much.. Had a great time talking and learning guitar from Darryl. By God's grace, he is one of the soldiers (in God's army) that I respect a lot. Pray that we can both get our road bikes and go for long-Distance cycling soon : )

Thank God for giving me strength for the 5 days of BB-SG.. Had the privilege to work with Jerry, Chang Yen, Si Wei, Jacelyn, Jian Zhong, Andrew(s), Jun Kiat, Lim Pin, Justin and Sir Fred. At first I was quite reluctant to go, it seems like I didn't make the right choice. BUT God made the choice right! Got to meet people from every different companies... Really enjoyed the presence of my beloved FAAs-Jun Yen, Nicolas, Li Quan (Xiao Lin's bro), Kautham, Ian, Jonas and the rest of them all. I realized God has given me the gift to sync and joke easily with these young gentlemen. Is my ministry BB? God, what do you think? : )

Just flew back from China on Wednesday and dropped by Salvation Army for Youth Camp on Thursday. Was praying for tail-catching this year but it got canceled due to the storm. Was a little disappointed initially but still thank God for the cancellation as it gave me some time to prepare for the AQ Camp on Friday. Stayed for Omega Night and had the chance to share the gospel with Kevin Huang : ) Hallelujah!

Thank God for giving me strength to survive the AQ Camp! I didn't had much sleep and had only one meal the day before. By the Grace of God, He sustained me and managed to bond with my boys.

BB-SG Flag Off today! Thank God for the divine appointment to meet up with 44th Company Boys and interaction with them! Learnt much...

Have you ever read the newspaper?

Come across any splendid food articles lately?... Have you ever seen someone eat the food article that has the picture of the Italian cuisine (that they crave for)? I hope not...
A more logical approach would be to get the address of the restaurant and head there on a Sunday afternoon to enjoy. (Instead of eating the newspaper itself right?)

Lesson Learnt:
When we read Christian books, we should always link them back to God's word... Don't read them as though they are the bible... Their words may not be entirely God's word but the bible is ENTIRELY God's word.

So the point I'm trying to drive at is this, Christian books are ways in which other Christians simplify the word of God such that new believers can understand better. For example, the bible is like a beef steak.. and Christian writers are merely writing an instruction manual to guide us on how to eat this steak and appreciate the flavor to its full potential... Eat the Steak, my friends... Not the instruction manual!

When you purchase the air ticket, you're given 2 classes-Economic and Business to choose from. Both will cause you a price. The amount you're willing to pay determines the benefits you'll get. Economic Class (cost about $500) will receive a mediocre satisfaction while a Business one (cost about $2500) will give you a higher quality of travel experience.

Take this example and apply it to Christianity. We (many times), think that there is maybe a few levels of Christianity. Some will pay a higher price (e.g. participate a lot in Church ministries and read the bible daily) to follow Jesus and others will pay a smaller price (e.g. go to church when times are okay and obey some commandments which are more convenient). Depending on the price we pay, we think that that's the amount of blessings we'll get in return.

(Is there an Economic Class in Christianity?)
NO! That's not what the bible says! There's no different levels in Christianity. We're either ALL in or ALL out for Jesus! Many profess to know Jesus, but their lifestyle tells otherwise. We can't enjoy the blessings of both worlds. No where in the bible says we can enjoy God's blessing and live an unexamined, unrepentant and unchanged life at the same time..

Matthew 6:34 says,"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

Went for BS with my brothers in the afternoon (28/08) today. We learnt how to pray! Praying is like letting go of a balloon (which may symbolize a burden, worry, thanksgiving etc) and letting it rise to the ceiling. Something that struck me was that sometimes, when we lift up our prayers to God and doubt. . . It's like pulling back the balloon even before it hits the ceiling.

Which is greater?
Our prayer or our God?
Can our prayer ever be too BIG for God to answer?

Your body is like a temple! You can either treat it like a marketplace and stock it up with wealth, sex, idols, evil motives and a constant hunger for more material blessings OR you can ask God to clean it up with brimstone and fire so that it is sanctified as a temple of worship to the God Most High!

Romans 13:14 says,'Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature."
