Philippians 2:12b says,"Continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling."
Notice that the verse did not mention 'work for your salvation'Instead, it states 'work out your salvation.'
Jesus did not die on the cross so that we need to buy a ticket into heaven by doing good works, following traditions and redundant rituals 
However, he died so that we can have salvation and to demonstrate (or exercise) it with God's strength!
