Psalm 94:9 says, "Does he who implanted the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see?"

"He cares for us no matter what. Our lack of faith does not diminish His love and power."

Psalm 19:14 says, "May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer."

Deeply grateful to the LORD for the friendships that have been forged in the past five days during my  Boys' Brigade Share-a-Gift, a nationwide community service project. An honour to work alongside with Jerry, Chang Yen, Si Wei, Jacelyn, Jian Zhong, Andrew, Jun Kiat, Lim Pin, Justin and Sir Frederick.  Initially, I was reluctant to participate in the event as I detest working in unfamiliar environments and on macro-scale projects. It seemed like I did not make the right choice BUT thankfully, God made the choice right. Glad to encounter and cross path with the next generation of young men. FAAs like Jun Yen, Nicolas, Li Quan (Xiao Lin's bro), Kautham and Jonas really made my day time and time again. I realized God has gifted me with an innate ability to sync and joke effortlessly with these BB Boys from other Companies. O LORD, is my life-time ministry destined to be the Boys' Brigade?

P.S. Thanks Li Quan and his team for locking up the Orchard Main Box for me.

2 Corinthians 4:8 says,"We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair."

Faith like Pizza.
Everyone goes through unique obstacles in life. Circumstances will make our lives messing at times. But all we need is some heat to make them come together well. Just like pizzas, spread the ingredients wherever you want and let the heat do the job! It will turn out yummy.

1 Corinthians 16:14 says, "Do everything in love."

Just flew back from China on Wednesday and dropped by Salvation Army for Youth Camp on Thursday. Was praying for tail-catching this year but it got canceled due to the rainstorm. Was a little disappointed initially but still thank God for the cancellation as it gave me some time to prepare for the AQ Camp on Friday. Stayed for Omega Night and had the chance to share the gospel with Kevin Huang in a singlish version. Also, thank God for  sustaining me physically throughout the AQ Camp! Despite the lack of sleep and food, He faithfully provided me with strength to bond and train with my boys. Today is BB-SG Flag Off I. Thank God for the divine appointment to meet up with 44th Company Boys and interaction with them!

Acts 20:35 says,"It is more blessed to give than to receive."

Today, a great brother in Christ really made my day (AGAIN)...
He helped me to pumped my bike and installed the bike stand for me...
Thank God for you, Darryl!

Deuteronomy 31:6 "Be strong and courageous.Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you"

Went to Sentosa today with Class 1031A today. Today was the first time I swarm in the sea and I realized I was afraid of the darkness and depth. As I swam further and further away from the shore, the harder I prayed. It makes me wonder how am I ever gonna complete the Ironman race with such a great fear (if I do not conquer) hovering above me.

Genesis 28:15 says,"I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land."

"By God's grace, I've reached the summit of this world and I only find a piece of ceiling. There's NOTHING there! But over there, I saw the promised Land."
~Quoted from my Mentor, Oliver Kelly~

Hebrews 13:4 says,"Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral."

If I ever tell a girl that I love her, the next statement that I must be ready to say is this, "Will you marry me?"

Luke 10:33 says,"But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him."

“The first question which the priest and the Levite asked was: "If I stop to help this man, what will happen to me?" But the good Samaritan reversed the question: "If I do not stop to help this man, what will happen to him?"”

Psalm 34:8 says, "Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him."

Have you ever read the newspaper? Come across any food articles lately? Have you ever seen someone eat the food article that has the picture of the food that they crave for? I hope not. A more logical approach would be to get the address of the restaurant and head there on a Sunday afternoon to savor. Similarly, reading Christian author books is not the same as reading the bible itself. So the point I'm trying to drive at is this: Christian books are means in which Christian authors use to simplify the word of God such that fellow believers can understand and digest easily. For example, the bible is like a beef steak and Christian authors are merely writing an instruction manual to guide others on how to truly appreciate its texture and flavour. Eat the steak itself, not the instruction manual.

Psalm 119:10 says, "I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands."

I have never seen or experienced such a powerful God before.
He understands what I am going through at this stage of my life.

2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!"

When you purchase an air ticket, you are given two classes to choose from - Economic and Business. Both will cause you a price. The amount you are willing to pay determines the benefits you will get. An Economic Class will derive a mediocre satisfaction while a Business Class will bestow a higher quality of travel experience. Take this example and apply it to Christianity. On many occasions, we ignorantly assume that there are maybe few levels of Christianity. Some can choose to pay a higher price to follow Jesus while others can choose to pay a smaller sum. For instance, the former may participate in myriads of Church activities and religiously meditate on God's word daily while the latter may clock their church attendance and obey the commandments as long it conveniences them. Depending on the (price or level of commitment) we pay, we think that that is the amount of blessings we will get in return from the heavenly realms.

Are there various classes or levels of nobility in Christianity? Absolutely not! Luke 14:33 proclaims that, "In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples." Following Christ comes with obedience and complete surrender. Many profess to know Jesus but their lifestyles tell otherwise. We cannot enjoy the blessings of both worlds. No where in the bible says we can enjoy God's eternal blessings and live an unexamined, unrepentant and unchanged life concurrently.

Romans 12:10 says, "Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves."

Just completed the 21km Marathon with my brother, Aaron Justin

2 Timothy 4:7 says, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

Truly want to give glory to the LORD Most High for empowering Aaron, E.Chang, Van and I today. By God's grace, we each finished our individual races. An answered prayer from our Heavenly Father to witness the victory of my dear brother for completing the Road Run 2010 first. Medals and trophies will rust but our faith will last.

Isaiah 12:2 says, "Surely God is my salvation;I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD,the LORD,is my strength and my song;he has become my salvation."

Friendship is like a Book. It takes a few seconds to burn but many years to write it.

Matthew 21:13 says, "It is written," he said to them, "My house will be called a house of prayer,' but you are making it a 'den of robbers."

Went for BS with my brothers (28 Aug 2010) today. Learnt about prayer to our Heavenly Father. Praying can at times be like letting go of a balloon into the sky (which may symbolize a burden, worry, thanksgiving etc). Sometimes when we lift up our prayers to God and doubt, it is like pulling back the balloon even before it hits the ceiling. Which is greater? Our prayer or our God? Can our prayer ever be too BIG for God to answer?  We must dare to pray and believe! There is no magic in prayer but there is magic in faith.
Biblically, a human body is known as a temple of God in which the Holy Spirit dwells. We can either treat it like a marketplace and stock it up with wealth, lust, idols, malice, boasting and a constant hunger for earthly treasures. Or we can ask God to clean it up with brimstone and heavenly fire so that it is sanctified and worthy to be used for as His instrument of worship.

Romans 13:14 says, "Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature."

Matthew 6:33 says,"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

Today, God gave me a new bike through my Alumni brothers from Christ Church (20 Aug 2010). "O LORD, you just gave me a bike for my birthday?" Truly, He has been faithfully meeting my needs through the birthday gifts. Lost my bike recently and I was asking God if I should get a new one soon. Van and Xiang Yi bought me a running shirt. LIFE purchased a G-Shock stopwatch which now replaces my spoiled Ironman watch. Followed by a new tights from A.J as my old tights was getting loosed.

Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you,"declares the LORD,"plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future"

Attended Youth Alpha today. People were talking about how our Singaporean lives would probably look like in the future. All of us seem to have a similar template:
(i) Graduate from Kindergarten
(ii) Complete Primary & Secondary School
(iii) Enter our desired courses in a JC/POLY/ITE
(iv) National Service
(v) Achieve an Undergraduate Degree [Local or Overseas]
(vi) Work & Gain Financial Security
(vii) Marriage & Childbearing
(viii) Work Even Harder
(ix) Retire Peacefully or Travel as a Tourist
(x) Attend Our Own Funeral

I wonder: 'Is there more to life than this?'

Perhaps, I shall add in two more major events if God allows:
(xi) Go on a long-term mission trip with my future wife
(xii) Witness my Dad and family confess that Jesus is LORD together as One and be baptized with my Dad on the same day and in same water.

Numbers 14:17 says,"Now may the Lord's strength be displayed, just as you have declared"

Eric Liddell once said, "God made me fast and when I run, I feel His pleasure. To win is to honor Him." Uncle Oliver introduced this film ,Chariots of Fire, to me recently. The film portrays the life of Eric, the first Olympic GOLD medalist who represented England. God made this man so fast and surrounded him with His glory but Eric never failed to point all glory back to the Almighty God! There was once when the King gave an order for him to run in a competition that fell on a Sabbath day. Eric Liddell rejected the King's decree and went to church to worship God like any other day. That incident was soon reported across the whole nation. Everyone witnessed the faith of this Olympian who chose to honor God and not run on a Sabbath.

From now on, I want to run to win for God and display His strength through my weaknesses! Aaron and I always talk about this, "Will God ever let us win big races?" I believe "YES, why not?!" and I shall claim God's promises step by step as I will run and pray and not faint. Sometimes it grieves me to look at people who win races and then, point all glory back to themselves and their own effort. You know what? By God's grace, I would rather be that person who wins those races and point all glory and honour and power all back to our LORD Jesus Christ!

Luke 9:23 says,"Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me."

Crucifixion story of our LORD Jesus Christ embodies the most famous and magnificent irony ever recorded in history. Jesus was a carpenter. He spent almost 30 years of his life learning carpentry from his Dad, Joseph and making furniture as a livelihood. He worked with nails, wood and hammer almost everyday (probably got his Bachelor in Architecture by the age of 12). Ironically, Jesus was crucified (for our sins) by the Roman soldiers using the very same tools that he himself uses almost everyday. Likewise, the very people whom He loved were the ones who nailed Him onto the cross.

Ephesians 4:30 says,"And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption."

Someone once asked me, "Dan, why do you like to do pull-ups so much?"
Well, I must say its because doing chin-ups is one of the few moments where I can truly trust God to overcome my own weight and lift myself up with God's strength!

Proverbs 27:17 says,"As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another."

2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!"

Psalm 20:7 says,"Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God."

Ownership. Leadership. Discipleship.
They will all sink in no time if Jesus is not the rightful Captain!

Matthew 28:19 says,"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit"

O Lord, thank You for walking me through these few weeks that is piled up with multitudes of trials and prayer and listening. You have whispered to me through your Holy Spirit and I shall obey you and return to 11th Singapore Company to learn about discipleship from Uncle Oliver. Likewise, I shall deny Taurus Vice-Captainship, pick up the same cross and continue to follow you! It is the Great Commission I am after, not the Great Omission!
My time with God and my BB Boys always come first!

1 Corinthians 3:16 says,"Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you?"

We are God's holy temple in Singapore.
We are called to make an invisible Christ visible to our city.

We are one Church, many congregations. One body, many members.
One Temple, many stones. One flock, many sheep. One vine, many branches. One Family, many siblings. One Army, many soldiers.
